There are many, in fact, most houseplants originated from the tropics. Bromeliads and orchids are two examples of tropical houseplants. Most of the plants with colored leaves or deep green foliage come from the tropics and do well indoors.

Well technically there is only one type which is green and has small palm leaves but it's stopped growing. They have to grow in hot areas though.
