Question by  swoggerj (2)

Are there any labor laws that restrict companies from making pregnant women travel for work?

There *are* restrictions that airlines place on traveling while pregnant, but assuming that's not also at issue, the FMLA (I believe) prohibits employers (I think it only applies to companies with at least 15 employees) from restricting an employee's job functions (including travel) merely because of pregnancy.

Thanks! My issue really is that I don't want my wife to travel at that stage of her pregnancy. I was hoping to find something that said they can't make her travel over a certain distance while pregnant.  add a comment

Specific labor laws vary from state to state, so it depends where you're from. There is, however, a nationwide law that says pregnant women can take a leave of absence.
