The drug resveratrol or just eating grape skin (where it is found) helps blepharitis! Blepharitis causes tearing and corneal ulcers. So based on this I can say that resveratrol actually helps protect the cornea! Hope that helps. Grapes are good for health!!

Brilliant point - in blepharitis oxidants like nitric oxide are responsible for the problems and resveratrol has anti-oxidant properties. Sounds good!  add a comment

I've heard of some connection between resveratrol and corneal micro-blood vessel formation in mice in studies done. I don't even know if this is good or bad. The article I read was just too scientific to understand - from a scientific journal!

I've been through quite a few websites about resveratrol and it's side effects but could not find any lasting adverse effect on the eye or the cornea. i think it is quite safe.

There have been many studies examining this effect. It has been shown to date that resveratol inhibits the functions of corneal significantly. This basically means that it stops the corneal from vascularization or commonly defined as the function of when the tissue of the body becomes vascular or useable by the body.

To the best of the knowledge of the medical community, there is no connection between resveratrol and corneal health. The cornea is less likely to be impacted than most other tissues in the body because it is avascular, meaning it has no blood vessels.

If this substance is part of the grapes, the wine was an exception as a risk factor in the predisposition of ocular diseases according to formal studies conducted about feeding.

Resveratol may be connected to corneal health, because of its anti-aging properties. It's uncertain whether Resveratol specifically impacts the human cornea rather than the whole body.
