Are tanning glasses necessary?

Answer by  Janet98 (114)

Yes, exposure to UV rays can be very harmful to your eyes. Over time it will change the way you see colors, and also cause poor eyesight.

You mean those little cups people wear over their eyes in tanning beds? Tanning involves exposure to intense ultraviolet light, which can severely damage your eyes causing permanent loss of visual acuity or even total blindness. So I would consider them a pretty good idea. I would also recommend eye protection for spray-on tanning.

Yes, they are neccessary in protecting the eyes as well as the delicate area around your eye. Your eyes are extremely sensitive to uv rays and it can be dangerous and harmful to expose them to such conditions.

Answer by  Dave22 (98)

Absolutely yes they are. Tanning beds release a lot of ultraviolet light, which can severely hurt your eyes. The tanning glasses prevent any damage to your eyes.

There may not be much damage if you do not wear them once, however repeated exposure of the extremely high UV rays can damage your eyes.

Absolutely, yes! Your eyelids are not sufficient to protect your eyes from the direct radiation of a tanning bed. Better yet, don't use tanning beds at all.

I would highly recommend wearing protection over your wyes while tanning. The sun lamp or sun itself could cause damage to your eyes.

Tanning glasses are not necessary in a tanning booth provided that you can keep your eyes shut throughout the entire tanning process. The UV light will damage the eyes after prolonged exposure, but you have to decide if you can keep the eyes shut that long and stay awake.
