Are poinsettias poisonous to dogs?

Are they dangerous for cats too?

Prevalent urban myth says that Poinsettias are poisonous, but they are not terribly harmful if ingested in small quantity. Most vets still recommend to keep dogs and cats away.

No they are not poisonous to dogs but it just depends on whether your dog may have allergy to it. Certain breeds do.

Despite conventional wisdom, the poinsettia is not highly toxic to either humans or animals, such as dogs or cats. The sap of the plant can cause temporary blindness if gotten in the eyes, and the leaves would cause mild stomach irritation if eaten, even in children. The plant can also cause skin irritation.
