Twelve palms are native to Florida, of the almost 3,000 worldwide. They are the Everglades Palm, Florida Silver or Thatch Palm, Buccaneer or Sargent's Cherry Palm, Needle Palm, Florida Royal Palm, the Sabal palms, ie. Scrub Palmetto, Miami Palmetto, and Dwarf Palmetto, Cabbage Palm, Saw Palmetto, Keys Thatch Palm and Florida Thatch Palm. All others were imported from elsewhere.
