Are Lois Duncan books good reads for young teens?

My daughter is 13.

Lois Duncan is well know for YA fiction, which is often included as classroom and summer reading. Read one to get a feel for her work. She is quite popular.

Yes, they can be. They can teach lessons, depending on which one they read. Some to me were purely entertainment reading. Like, "Stranger with my face", where she was rediscovering herself and seeing herself in a new light. It was a kind of growing up and realizing that you may not like all of yourself inside and out book.

Yes, if they are interested in suspense types. The books are for "mature" readers and I believe that her books are enjoyable for teens.

Lois Duncan is an excellent author for your daughter to read. Her books are specifically targeted at the teenage audience. As your daughter fits this target group, it would be ideal for her age and grade to Lois Duncans books.

Lois Duncan writes scarey thrillers for "young adults," with characters in their later teens. "Young adult" books are aimed at kids 13+.

Lois Duncan writes books for teens that are suspensful psychological stories in some cases and whimsical in others such as the Hotel for Dogs. Many of her books have been made into movise enjoyed by teens. Depending on your daughter's preferences she may find some or all enjoyable.

While it depends on the reader level, most Lois Duncan books should be appropriate for young teens. Much of her work falls in the mystery or suspense genres, and so they can be frightening, but in terms of difficulty they are classified as young adult novels and should be appropriate.
