Yes they are. Nine times out of ten when something is free and too good to be true it usually is. Free e-Faxes are just scams to get your e-mail and personal information. The services never work and sometimes they have been known to be riddled with key loggers and other Trojans.

Free e-Faxes are not a hoax, it's 100% legit. The only downfall is that you're going to have to look at a ton of advertising while you scan your fax in, and they will email you span sometimes. You can opt of out the emails though.
