Will pot ever be legal in the United States?

There is a possibility that marijuana will become legal in the United States within the next 20 years. Particularly useful to the fight to change the legality are the use of medical marijuana and the position of California regarding marijuana. Once the states begin to legalize this product the national ban will lift.

While it doesn't seem likely that the federal government will legalize marijuana any time soon, many policy makers feel that the tide is slowly turning toward future legalization.

Only when the general voting population recognizes the taxing potential (for a change in state law) and when the federal government re-reads the Tenth Amendment of the Constitution.
