Harvard, Yale and Princeton are often referred to as the 'Big three'. They are considered to be among the best in the world, let alone the United States.

Yale, Harvard, and MIT are the three hardest schools to get into. MIT accepts extremely little applicants, where Harvard and Yale are the most known.

Of course there are the ivy league schools such as Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, but don't leave out great public schools such as University of Illinois, South Carolina, and even Kentucky.

Well I guess by standards it would be Harvard, Yale and Princeton. However, I have visited them and think they are unnecessarily stuffy. In my opinion, Duke is one of the best.
