This is the proper test for detecting hypoglycemia. You must make sure that you have fasted for at least 12 hours before your test. It's useful to have the test scheduled in the morning for that reason. You should have your results in 24 hours.

Yes, but be sure you properly fast before taking the test. This includes drinking the proper amount of water. The body will not cleanse itself appropriatly if you do not have enough water. Allert your physician if you feel dizzy or faint during the test as this can be a warning sign.

A five-hour glucose test is a reliable way to detect hypoglycemia. A glucose monitor such as diabetics use to track their blood sugar does not suffice, as it can only provide a quick snapshot of your blood sugar levels.

It is possible to detect hypoglycemia with a home test but generally you have to do the test right after you've eaten something potentially dangerous to see if your blood sugar drops. The five hour test is used to detect hypoglycemia so if you test positive it might be wise to consider lifestyle changes.
