Why would you want a 4-wheel-drive vehicle?

It is not only the increase in traction in mud or snow but the confidence a 4WD vehicle gives you. These vehicles are normally higher off the ground, allowing one to travel off the road.They are great for farm and ranch work as well as getting to the ski resort.

The benefit of a 4x4 is the ability to drive in some conditions easier then if you had a FWD or RWD vehicle. A bunch of people that buy them have really no need for it and rarely use it. However there are people that actually use them for off-roading.

There are a number of uses. If you live in areas with bad weather, having 4 wheels driven instead of 2 doubles your chances of having traction. In a car with a front wheel bias, it's better to have all wheels driven to avoid torque steer, as well.
