Why would you get booties for dogs?

We have booties for our dog because she is old and has difficulty standing up on a tile floor. The boots provide traction.

For some breeds whom aren't meant for colder weather it might just be an owner's way of helping them feel comfortable. Just like sweaters keep them warm, booties keep their feet from getting too cold.
