If is not the obvious answer...running out of gas or there are no warning lights on the dash...I may be your ECM or ECU (Engine Control Module/Engine Control Unit)

It is dying for one of 2 reasons, improper fuel ratio or lack of spark. Improper fuel can be from lack of fuel or lack of oxygen.

Answer by  78Camaro (200)

It is either a loss of fuel from a clog in the line, or a spark problem. Most ignition coils go bad after awhile.

It could be your distributor. It could also be a fuel injector issues. You should also check belts and spark plugs.

There are a number of reasons your intrepid could die. One of the reasons could be your battery, if it is bad it could be putting strain on your charging system causing it to die. Another possible problem is the alternator could be bad, if it is bad it wont charge your battery. Other problems could be electrical.

It can be that you are out of gas. If not this, then there might be a problem with the ECM.
