Dog skin rashes can be caused by several different things. Environmental or food allergies, flea allergy dermatitis, and skin infections caused by scratching are the most common causes. It is unlikely to be poison ivy or oak as dogs can carry the oils from these plants on their coats and transfer the oils to humans, but themselves aren't affected.

There are several reasons a dog could have a rash. Even though not all dogs are allergic some can be to poison ivy or oak. I would call your vet to get some dog safe cortizone cream for your furbaby. It could also be caused by heat or cold exposure or even other allergens in the environment.

Canines cannot get poison ivy or poison oak like we can, although they can spread it to us. A rash can be from a few different things. Does your dog have fleas? Have you used any chemicals on your rugs like carpet fresh or something similar? These can be very irritating to the dog's skin.
