Why is there a lump behind my 20 month old's ear?

This could be asimple birth mark or something more concerning such as a cyst, an infected saliva gland or a swollen lymph node. The doctor should check this out as a swolen lymph node could be due to a serious illness or infection. It is something that should be watched closely for any changes or growth.

There is a Lymph node there and when children get ill, their lymph nodes swell up. Take your child to the Doctor to have it checked just to be safe. My Daughter has Lymphangioma and has regular swelling like this, so be sure to have it checked out thoroughly. I'm sure your child is fine though.

This could be a number of things, but it may be an infection; you should take him to a doctor.

It is nothing to worry if the baby does not complain about it.But sometime the big trouble will hide itself with out showing any symptoms.If it is noticed for a long time then go to doctor.Do not leave it with out any care.The lump should not grow or have puss formation.Whatever it is consult doctor.
