Question by  Phantasmality (36)

Why is there a large lump under my cat's mammary glands?

She's just given birth to kittens, and is nursing them still. What causes the large bump under each gland?

The lump may be caused by hormones due to the recent birth of her kittens. Make sure that it is not causing her discomfort by palpating it.

This sounds like she might have a tumor growing on or around her mammary glands. I wouldn't worry with it until she gets through giving milk to her babies.

These lumps can be something as simple as engorged mammary glands, or something as serious as mammary tumors. I would lean more toward the first since she is still nursing.

Swelling of the mammary glads is very normal when lactating and is due to hormonal changes found in all mammals.
