Simply to seek attention. If you want this behaviour to stop, don't reward it and ignore it. This will hopefully end this behaviour, but if it means anything, it isn't all that abnormal.

Some children mature at a faster rate than others. Your child may not be as fast as some others. If your child hasn't reached the developmental marks leading up to the 4 year mark, perhaps you might think about taking them in to see a doctor and discussing your concerns.

Your 4-year-old is still only 4! He/she probably wants to return to a younger (less responsible) time, because he/she is still so close to that time. Ignore bad behavior, reward good, and supply plenty of love!

This usually happens when the 4-year-old has been put in a situation where there is a baby and the baby is getting all of the attention. The toddler wants the attention that the baby is getting, so they act like a baby to get it.
