Why is it so hard for up-and-coming boxers to get a fight?

Up-and-coming boxers have difficulty getting fights due to lack of commercial exposure. It is easier for fight promoters to sell tickets to bouts between well known boxers rather than contestants that boxing fans are not familiar with. The fighters with the most drawing power usually get the choicest matches,leaving few to new-comers.

Because you have no reputation. No one wants to take a chance on a bum. Promotors want to have a strong crowd appeal. If ya get knocked out in the first 30 seconds it makes them look bad.

Right now the current state of boxing is in turmoil, with not a lot of coverage, fight gyms, promotions or boxers for that matter. The sport isn't doing well right now, so hopefully it turns around.
