Why does the transmission in my Ford hum?

Transmissions are not known to make noises outside of when they are shifting gears. The sound is more likely coming from a different engine component, possibly the power steering pump or even just a belt or pulley. Although, if it was the transmission, it means the transmission fluid may be low and the gears are grinding.

Well take a it to a good tire shop that does a transmission service or do it yourself and change the fluid to lucas. The gears wear over time.

The transmission may be low on fluid or overheating. Needs checked to see if filter is clogged or if pump pressure is good.

Worn or aging bearings and gears can emit noises that slowly increase in volume with age and abuse. Sound-deadening materials can also sometimes deteriorate and fall off.

your transmission in your Ford hum's becuase it is most likely low on transmission fluid and it needs to be filled up anther reason could be that it is starting to get bad and you need a new one. i would check the levels before you look into it even more

Depending on if you have an automatic or manual transmission it could be several possibilities. If you have a manual could be and indication of a low oil level creating gear and or bearing noise.
