Before he died he got ready to race and had his car checked to make sure everything was alright before he got out on the track. Then he raced the last race of his life.

He was in third and blocking Sterling Martin, since Dale Jr. and Michael Waltrip were running first and second. For some unknown reason the car turned left, caught the apron and spun up into the outside wall/

Dale Earnhardt Sr was leading the race, in third place. For reasons that aren't known, his car veered down the track and his bumper hit the front of the car behind him. This made his car turn sharply to the left where he collided with a wall, causing his death.

Dale Earnhardt SR died because of an error at the car's engine. The nascar wouldn't let the teams to make the cars as they wanted to so they couldn't make the car safe enough.
