Why does my lamp light keep coming on while the TV keeps shutting off?

It sounds like you have a short somewhere in your electrical service, if your lamp and your tv are on the same outlet, move the lamp to another outlet.

Sounds like you have a short in your electrics and should have that looked into. If on a remote control system a garage control or cellphone can trigger it.

You have a bad connection, either in the lamp or switch. Have someone check this out. The lamp and the tv should be okay on the same line.

TThis happens when lot of dust is accumulated inside the TV. After watching TV continuously for a long time, lot of heat is generated inside TV set and it has a problem cooling down because of accumulated dust. Due to lot of heat picture tube tries to shut off.
