Your baby may just be using your breast as a pacifier. Try only feeding him for twenty minutes once an hour. When he learns this pattern, he will quit 'playing around' and nurse and first then be pacified. After he has learned this pattern, you can give him a pacifier to help keep him content the rest of the time.

Bunch feeding or cluster feeding has nothing to do with your breastmilk or your mothering. If baby is happy the rest of the day, and baby doesn't seem to be in pain during the fussy time just keep trying to soothe your baby and don't beat yourself up.

Probably because your milk is thinner because you are not eating enough. There has to be enough substance for the child to get full.

Usually you need feed the baby every one and half hours, this is because, baby will digest the milk quickly, also since it is crying, throat will become sour after few hours, so baby should be feed with breast milk every hour.

You may make the baby to feel hungry and then give feeding. Baby may drunk more water inside the stomach and have that space empty and so feel to have constant feeding. Don't give milk alone. Give some water to the baby. This will reduce the space in the stomach. If the problem continues consult a scan with physician.

babies under 6 months should not be given water, it bloats them, therefore not drinking enough nutrients from breastmilk because they are full up from water.  add a comment
