Why does my 19 year old son steal from me?

Probably he doesn't have enough pocket money or an allowance from you that would satisfy his needs. Or maybe it's just for the adrenaline he needs to feel alive. Or maybe he's in some sort of trouble but is afraid of telling you because he's afraid of your reaction as a parent.

1. The money matters more to him than your opinion, such as when drug addicted or desperate when faced with greater debts than he'll admit to. 2. It could be a matter of vengeance or getting back at you, regardless of need. 3. He could be selfish and not care about your opinion.

Maybe he's acting out so as to get your attention. Perhaps he has deeper issues than just the stealing.

I think your 19 year old steals from you because he knows he can get away with it. You are the parent so you won't lock him up in jail because a stranger will feel differently. You are his flesh and blood and thus he thinks that he can get away wit it.
