why does every person have a name?

It's easier to get someone's attention if you shout their name ("Susie!") than not ("Hey! You!"). Also, if you're talking to someone about a person you both know, it is harder to explain "girl with brown hair" instead of just saying "Susie."

It's your own identity, your name describes your character. If we went around saying hey boy or hey girl everyone would be turning around to answer.
