Anipryl is a medication FDA-approved only for dogs with senility. As dogs age, they begin to lose cognitive function and may start to behave oddly: barking for no reason, changes in sleeping habits, the start of accidents. Anipryl works by increasing concentrations of dopamine, which improves cognitive function.

It is given to older dogs who are exhibiting signs of memory loss. Perhaps your pet is forgetting his house training and having accidents inside. If your senior dog's sleep pattern has differed it could also be prescribed.

Anipryl is a drug that helps dogs with dementia or who are showing signs of old age to remain cognitively stable. If you're dog is old, this is probably why he gave it the medication.
