I really do not understand why we get boogers.
Answer by ellie61 (478)
Boogers are dried mucus, which serves to lubricate and protect most of the respiratory system. In your nose, the mucus will trap dirt inhaled and prevent it from drying out. Mucus also contains proteins including antibodies.

All open body cavities are lined with mucous. Your nose has little hairs in it to filter out dust as you breath. Dust plus mucous equals boogers.
