Small "eye boogers" are a normal buildup of dried eye secretions in the corners of your eyes, usually developing overnight. However, excessive crusting could be due to an eye infection.

"Eye Boogers" are conglomerated proteins and dried tears secreted during sleep. Because your eyes are closed, the normal cleaning action of your eyes is inhibited. Eye boogers, however, reduce strain on your eyelids, as it in fact requires muscular action to close your eyes.

Eye boogers are snot from your nasal passage that make it into your eye ducts as you sleep. It is the same as mucus in your nose. However when it gets into the corner of your eyes it dries out and becomes hard creating the eye booger that you find in the morning.

Eye boogers, or "sleepers", are an overnight buildup of ordinary eye fluids -- mucus discharged from the cornea and tears, along with blood cells, skin cells and other stuff like dust.
