One or both partners may feel that the spark in the marriage is gone. Some people prefer to put their jobs above their marriage and the stay-at-home spouse might feel rejected, unappreciated and unloved. This often leads to a willingness to explore romantic interests elsewhere. Many people feel that they cannot reconcile as the trust in their partner is gone.

Unless you've been there you have no clue about reconciliation. Once someone in the relationship cheats there is no more trust between the two partners. Generally the person who has been cheated on looses all trust in their partner and they will never be able to get over the fact that their partner cheated.

Once a spouse cheats they either keep cheating on the spouse. It is hard to overcome that your spouse has cheated on you. Sometimes they do reconcile but a lot of times they don't. They fall out of love with their spouse when it is found out they have cheated.
