Why do people keep spelling "you're" wrong?

Example: "You know your right". How hard is it to remember what contractions mean?

Some people are used to writing a word the way they hear it, so "you're" and "your" sound the same to them. Schools also need to hammer it into people's heads a little more.

"You're" is a contraction. It is to be used in place of the two words "you are". Often times, people use the word "your" mistakenly because they are unfamiliar with the concept of a contraction being a sort of shorthand for two words. The word "your" is used to indicate possession and is not a contraction.
