Why do people answer a question when the question was asked to someone else?

It's probably done for different reasons and some people may not be aware they do it. Some people just like to try to impress with their knowledge on a subject.

I guess they heard the question and they have , or feel they have a good answer to it. THey may think they are being helpful.
