The spasms could be caused by lack of exercise. Do some light exercise and try to do some walking for about 20 minutes a day.

Spasms in the hips are a clear sign of Repetitive Strain injury. This injury is typically caused by over working a particular muscle group. Try improving your posture.

It is likely because you are deficient in essential salts and calcium in your bloodstream. The other option is that you worked your hips too hard.

It may be due to over exercising, walking after taking in a large amount of food and running after a meal or due to deficiency of calcium in your body.
