Why do celebrity tapes get out so much?

Celebrities sometimes leak the tapes themselves for publicity purposes, but deny having done so. When tapes are leaked without their consent, it is often because someone the celebrity trusted and who had access to the tape betrayed that trust for money. Close friends, managers, personal assistants, and household staff sometimes feel they have more to gain by selling the tape.

Some celebrities truly want the attention and personally give up information on themselves. There are even stories that have surfaced about certain celebreties who will give the paparazzi a time and place of where they will be and what will be happening. Some people just can't live without the attention whether good or bad.

The fact is, most celebrities release these tapes on purpose. Ms.Hilton, for example, I had no idea who she was.The Hilton sex tape is the only reason we know who Paris Hilton is. Do you think Pam Anderson will be eternally famous for Baywatch? No, she will be famous for her honeymoon video with Tommy Lee.

Often celebrity sex tapes get released because the "celebrity" wants them to be released. Think about people like Paris Hilton and Tonya Harding. They were looking to get their name out and get some publicity (remember bad publicity is better than no publicity) and used sex tapes to increase their celebrity. Others just happen to land in the wrong hands.
