They avoid exposure by not committing bad acts in the first place. Most celebrities that stay out of the news are those with untarnished reputations. Those who do commit bad acts but aren't covered in the news are those with really skilled PR agents.

Most celebrities cannot stay out of the news, it's just hard to control what people put in the media, but some celebrites handle things right on the spot, or pay money to keep thing on the down low. If they pay people off, it may not end up in the news.
