Question by  Centrifugal (69)

Why can't I run as much as I did yesterday?

I thought I was getting in better shape, but somehow, I was more efficient yesterday than I was today.

This is a totally normal result for running. Don't let it discourage you. Most runners take a rest day or an "easy" day on the day following a long or hard run. You could also be tired, hungry, dehydrated, or hot, which would make running feel more strenuous.

It depends on how much you ran. If you ran a lot, you probably didn't give your leg muscles enough time to recover from yesterday.

This is because you need to time yourself constantly with a stop watch and try to beat your old time. Also, your muscles may be tired from yesterday's run so it may be weaker. Also, you did not stretch or had less energy (food or water).

It is not clear whether you are a regular runner. This may be due to muscular pain and some other weakness. First day don't give more strain and gradually increase your speed. If you repeat this process regularly, you will feel comfort and you won't be tired anymore.
