Pearls that are perfectly round are false, real Pearls are nearly always off-round, Keishi Pearls are accidents that happen when the Mollusc rejects it and it grows freely. Biwa Pearls are stick shaped and come from a freshwater lake in japan.

Pearls are round because the oyster has coated them evenly with nacre. Pearls can be different shapes, e.g. rice pearls are long ovals. Others may be more oddly shaped.

Pearls are usually round due to the nature of the nacre that covers the core,and cultured pearls are usually round as eshwater pearls mostly are not round.
