This is a term that was first adopted around 1000 A. D. The term comes from the Old English word bicce. Dog Breeders still use this term.

It was just a term that was created to classify a different gender between male and female. Like Doe and Buck for deer.

its a technical term for female dogs. mostly we are using the term dog for male dogs but the technical term is stud.

Girl dogs are called bitches, because "bitch" has the primary meaning of a female dog. This term is being used for over thousand years.
