Why are cars made in the United States electrical system produced with negative grounding?

Not all cars have negative grounding in the United states, late models are positive. When cars were first produced, negative grounding was an established method or procedure because of the batteries polatity. It was considered a safety factor so there was no chance of getting the battery connected incorrectly and causing the electrical system to short and cause a fire.

Not only in U.S, everywhere electric system producing with negative ground. As it is not touching with ground negative & positive grounding is possible in cars (Vehicles), But in the case if vehicle touch with earth, it is possible to get shock/short circuit or fire. For maintenance purpose also negative grounding is very helpful.
