Whose picture is on the 1992 silver dollar?

There was only one silver dollar coin made in 1992 and that was the American Eagle. The American Eagle has a picture of Lady Liberty on it which is a representation of the statue of liberty with long flowing hair. This image has been used since the early part of the century on many silver coins.

The designer of the coin claims his inspiration was just a regular baseball player although many believed it was in fact Nolan Ryan. The silver dollar has been in 'print" for more than 2 centuries so the list of people who appeared on it is too long.
