Who wrote the Declaration of Independence?

Thomas Jefferson did most of the original writing. John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, Robert R. Livingston, Roger Sherman, and Thomas Jefferson were commissioned to write the original draft, but they all agreed Jefferson should write the first draft. After they submitted the draft to Congress, many other revisions were made by various members of Congress to obtain approval.

Thomas Jefferson wrote most of the Declaration of Independence. However, Benjamin Franklin and Adam Smith were both significant contributors to it.
