The original supporters of the constitution were the Federalists. This group of individuals wanted to establish a strong central government for the US and weaken the power of state governments. Ultimately, these goals led to their support of the constitution.

James Madison got the credit for writing the constitution but Governor Morris did a lot more work. The constitution was a redraft persay of the Articles of Confederation. The first ten amendments are known as the bill of rights. Past men of power wanted to set a supreme law for the new nation.
