What is the difference between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution?

The biggest difference between the Articles and the Constitution was the control the state and federal governments had. Under the Articles, the federal government had basically no power. This is because the writers feared that another tyrannic government would control like England did. The Constitution gave the federal government power.

The Articles of Confederation were the main form of government just after the Revolution. It was a basic form and was soon replaced with the Constitution. The Articles were a loose set of rules and provided no rights to the people. The Constitution didn't at first either, but soon the Bill Of Rights was added.

The Articles of Confederation were the first document used in the creation of the United States. They were later superceded by the Constitution and now have only historical significance. They had a slightly different system of government than the Constituion that was ultimately adopted and which we still follow today.
