Zheng He was a Chinese mariner and explorer who sailed throughout the Persian Gulf, Indian Ocean and South Pacific. He made several epic voyages about 80 years before Columbus.

Zheng He (1371-1435) was a Chinese mariner who lead seven expeditions between 1405 and 1433. They were sponsored by the Ming government. His large fleets sailed west from China going as far as the Cape of Good Hope. The fleets included 400-foot-long treasure ships as well as supply ships and warships.
