What kind of litter is good for Persian cats?

Persian cats can be very picky about using a litter box. Any kind of litter is good as long as you keep it clean. Scoopable is best.

As persian cats have long fur i would try a non dusty cat litter as this may not stick to the fur as much keeping them cleaner.

Different breeds of cats don't have specific preferences of cat litter relating to their breed. It depends on the individual cat and its likes and dislikes. You can try clumping, clay, or the more environmentally friendly pellet kind. Whichever litter you use make sure to clean it frequently so your cats long hair doesn't get dirty from it.

The best litter for Persian cats is chunky or large sand stone litter. Any fine litter gets in their hair and makes a mess

Persians have long hair so you would need a litter that would not stick to its fur. I would suggest getting a pelleted litter that is made from newspaper. There is a litter called "Litter Green" and its a pelleted type of litter and won't stick to your pet's fur.

Most cats prefer litter that has minimal scent-- they like it to smell like them! The most important thing is to keep it clean and have a couple of boxes.

I think its really a personal thing. There are a couple types of litter on the market. non clumping, clumping and rolled newspaper. My Persian has no problems with clumping

I tested a bunch of different cat litters when I got my Rufus. The one I found to be best is Fresh Step clumping litter. Not only does it clump but it doesn't seem to get into his fur like other types of cat litter do.

Compressed pine litter or compressed newspaper litter are both good litters for long haired cats such as Persians. They are both low tracking and tend not to stick to fur. If your cat is female these litters will not irritate her should they come in contact with her nether regions.

Either standard "non-clumping" litter, or the recycled paper (like "Good Mews") work well because they don't stick to the long fur.
