Who is the Viceroy of India?

There is no longer a Viceroy of India. Lord Mountbatten was the last viceroy. He was the highest official in British India, having control over all of the country as well as representing Indian rulers from different regions. Earlier viceroys did not have complete control. They only oversaw other British officials in India and had governance over Fort William.

The title viceroy is no longer used in India. They now use govenor instead. The govonor of India as of today is a group of people who govern their own states.
