No one is exactly sure who originally invented jelly bean candy since its precursor the Turkish Delight can be traced all the way back to ancient Rome. The first hard shelled regular jelly bean is believed to have been created by an unknown American candy maker in the 1800s but its possible that the jelly bean has been around longer.

david klein invented jelly bean candy in 1976. he came up with the ideea of mixing diffrent flavours and high-quality ingredients because before he did that all the jelly tasted the same.
