This is a hotly debated topic, but I have found Firefox to be by far the safest for protecting your computer against the unwanted trash out there on the information highway.

Actually, no one browser is "safer" than another. The manufacturers of all three browsers work very diligently to ensure that a browser defends against even the latest types of Internet browser attacks. As long as you use the latest version of any of these browsers, and are mindful of your browsing activities, you shouldn't have to worry about browsing safety.

Firefox is generally regarded as a safer web browser but it depends on who you ask. All browsers have problems but Firefox is used the most because of the addons.

If you are using an PC you should have an anti-viral program regardless of browser. However, Foxfire offers many different anti-virus protections and often updates it systems to ensure that user are protected from the new viruses. However, it is vital to have a back up system no browser can offer the complete protection of an anti-virus software.

I'd say it mostly depends on the user's behavior. Errant clicks or otherwise reckless surfing behaviors are the biggest cause of safety breaches. But after that, I'd say Chrome is safer because fewer people use it so fewer hackers try to crack it.
