That is a matter of personal taste. Older people enjoy getting cards through the mail. Younger people enjoy the electronic method. Just be sure to send a card!

If your recipient is "connected," checks e-mail regularly, likes short and sweet messages, and does not consider electronic communication impersonal, then e-cards should be fine. However, the if you want to say something very sentimental or complicated, paper may be better; people tend to read online material quickly.

A card through the mail will always be more personal and heartfelt, but for someone that is just an acquaintance or run out of time, an e-card is fine.

cards in the mail are much more formal and appropriate. If you are sending a simple card for a small occasion for a good friend, an e-card works.

Cards through the mail where you put in a personal note in your own handwriting are far better than even the best e-card. People like to know that you have thought of them for more than the two minutes it takes to send an e-card.
