Both balls will fall at an equal speed. All objects fall at equal speeds, all the time. The independent variable is the weight of the balls. The dependent variable is the speed at which they fall. In this case, the dependent variable is the same regardless of the independent variable.

The independent variable you're looking for should be the rate of gravity. The dependent variable would be the weight of each of the balls. A web search should give you both variant values. You may also want to create an experiment, wherein you actually drop both objects from the given height.

Acceleration due to gravity is independent - both will accelerate to the same speed. Friction of the air however is dependant on shape. So golf balls will likely fall slightly faster.

The dependant variable would be the object that is being dropped. Your independent variable would be the rate at which the objects falls. 9. 8 meters per second (gravitational pull).
