The point of a man's tie should stop at his belt. I'm sorry, your husband is right. Perhaps it doesn't look right to you because he needs a different width or type of tie.

The proper way to wear a tie is so it falls anywhere between the top of the pant's waistband and the middle of the belt buckle.

The tie should be knotted in such a way that the ends of the tie just touch the beginning of the trosures, little bit above the belt. The tie should not be too long or too short.
